Fashion designer extraordinaire, Tracy Reese, has returned to her hometown of Detroit in support of the local shop Détroit Is the New Black with a pop-up boutique. Founded by Roslyn Karamoko, Détroit Is the New Black, is a movement created to bring commerce back to the city and encourage shopping local and economic empowerment.
Reese’s pop-up features styles by Tracy Reese, along with one-of a kind runway pieces that will only be available in Detroit. The runway maven will meet and greet shoppers this Saturday, October 10 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have a retail presence in Detroit!” Reese says in a release. “This is my hometown and it’s extremely close to my heart. It truly feels like a bit of a homecoming and I’m thrilled to partner with Roslyn Karamoko at Détroit Is the New Black for this event.”
When it comes to supporting her hometown, Reese has always been down to give back to the city that birthed her style. Just last year she told BlacDetroit.com, “I am always the one saying Detroit is an amazing city. And don’t believe the hype. Every city has good points and bad points. I was born and raised here. I went to school here. And I am a proud Detroiter.”
