Beyonce uplifted and illuminated the BET Awards lastnight as she opened up the award ceremony attracting a standing ovation after performing her track off of her recent album, “Lemonade”; entitled, ‘Freedom’. The performance evoked a revolutionary wade in the water emotion with a prophetic message recited from the mountaintop of Kendrick Lamar’s poetic perspective, prefaced by an excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and topped off with Beyoncè’s infamous phalanx of formation freedom dancers of course. A bit of a run on sentence for some I know, but I just had to get ALL of the facts straight.
Although Beyonce had to jet to the clearport immediately after her performance to head to London for her concert, missing the acceptance of the two awards she won (R&B/pop artist, video of the year for “Formation” and Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice), she made it a priority to make the BET Awards and she gave her heart and soul to the people and culture that birthed her success.
So check out the stellar and riveting performance and see what it looks like to stay true to your gift, origin, culture, and more importantly, yourself.
💜Love & Light🌞,
