A legend, giant, musical mastermind and innovator describe the essence of Detroit born J DILLA. A pioneer and light being who illuminated brilliance and genius. DILLA created the intersection between hip hop and jazz as a producer, opening the minds and artistic pallet of the masses, while inspiring iconic artists to sharpen their skills and expand their musicology. A trailblazer, who allowed his imagination and curiosity to wonder 💭 creating his own wonderland filled with music that just makes you feel good. A rare savant and a true gift to music and the world 🌍, DILLA deserved to be righteously honored and that’s exactly what Asya Shein (INTERVIEW 🎙️) of Fusicology did.
Fusicology celebrated the life and legacy of DILLA in a dynamic and beautiful through the producing the event DILLA 🎷 JAZZ. An eclectic and gifted group of artists together to salute DILLA at the Ford, commemorating what would have been his 50th solar return. With Dj Battlecat (INTERVIEW 🎙️) at the helm of the musical direction, J Rocc (INTERVIEW 🎙️) on the ones and twos and the incomparable Bilal (INTERVIEW 🎙️) serenading us with his classic hit Soul Sista, let’s just say the nostalgia was surreal and uplifted the human spirit in an unimaginable way. Not to mention the special guests: Medusa The Gangsta Goddess, Daru Jones, Cameron Graves (INTERVIEW 🎙️), Cocoa Sarai (INTERVIEW 🎙️), DJ Wyldeflower and The Pocket Queen along with host, Leroy Downs, were stellar bonuses to the immaculately curated homage to J DILLA.
An unforgettable dreamy night under the star lit 🔥 sky dazzled everyone present and will live in our HeARTs forever.
What a life and what a legacy J DILLA has birthed. And even with him living beyond the veil in non physical form – he still sprinkles his magic on the world with all of the seeds of pure love, joy and perfection that he imprinted in the DNA 🧬 of his music and sound straight from his heART 💜.
