The Film Is Great Reception, honouring the UK Oscar nominees this year at the British Residence in Hancock Park, was hosted by Consul General Michael Howells and BAFTA Los Angeles Chairman Kieran Breen. The event was an elaborate affair with a long red carpet in the front and marquee built especially for the occasion. The evening’s partners were BBC Worldwide and Virgin Atlantic. Virgin Atlantic created a lounge area that featured a large neon Union Jack. Silent Pool Gin, one of the evening’s beverage partners, created a beautiful bar and an elegant tower of engraved chalices and glamorous bottles in light blue with gold flowers, by the new favourite gin to the stars.
Attendees included Oscar winner Gary Oldman and Darkest Hour’s Oscar nominated producers, Lisa Bruce and Douglas Urbanski, Andy Serkis, directors Edgar Wright and Lucy Walker, Sir Howard Stringer, Oscar winner James Ivory, Kate Beckinsale, Jacqueline Bisset, Camilla Luddington, Jane Seymour, and Tom Payne among others.
Michael Howells gave a rousing speech highlighting the years accomplishments from British Filmmakers and everyone gladly toasted the year and the night with their Silent Pool Gin glasses raised high.
