Well, I always make it clear when I am a fan of the newest concept car or new vehicle to hit the assembly line and this is for sure one of my top 5!!!
The new AMG GT C ROADSTER VARIANT is a smooth criminal hands down. This car has been on my radar for quite some time now, but I was not sold that it would go into production. Well, boy was I mistaking as the GT is here!!
Now one thing I can tell you is that I love love LOVE AMG. It is my favorite kit for any Benz in my mind. It’s like what most people say about bacon: it makes everything better!
My first encounter up close and personal with AMG and how it all goes down actually happened in the south of France, where I chased the MERCEDES BENZ AMG boat down one morning while sailing on the world’s most expensive Yacht, the ALPHA NERO. I remember it like it was yesterday, which is so crazy because I actually got on board the boat and was able to see exactly how it looked and felt on board. This was after I had just brought the AMG magazine at the airport which had the exact boat I was standing in on the cover along with the driver who was the only one on the AMG team who had driven it at the time! Now we have this convertible beauty about to hit the streets and it will be a sight to see.
The German automakers will offer two versions: the GT Roadster and a quicker GT C Roadster variant. They each share the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 of their fixed-tops, but with different outputs of course! The standard GT Roadster makes 469 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while the GT C Roadster makes 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque!!! 0-60 mph and 3.7 seconds match the normal GT and GTS coupes which are both hardtops, having wayy less power. That’s likely a result of the droptops weighing more I would believe. However, Mercedes didn’t share the curb weights. The convertibles have thicker rock panels with a rear shock tower brace and additional bracing behind the dashboard. This will for sure add weight for those who really want to see how the roadster can move.
The photos of the beauty said it all for me. And after doing a bit of research and understanding the test, it all makes sense why BENZ would want to release the vehicle. I really cannot wait to see one in person! There are a few versions of the BENZ that I love; and this is one for sure that I would love to get my hands on!!!
