It is safe to say the No. 1 tennis player in the world is Serena Williams, who holds 21 major titles making her the world’s highest-paid female athletThis happened after Maria Sharapova, World No.7, announced Monday that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open in January. As a result, many of the big brands that have endorsement deals with the Russian 5-time major champion—including Nike, Porsche, and TAG Heuer—have suspended their arrangements.
Sharapova said she had been taking a drug, called meldonium, since 2006 for health reasons. The drug was placed on the World Anti-Doping Agency and International Tennis Federation’s list of banned substances this year. Sharapova said she failed to open an email with the updated list of banned drugs.
Now it is crazy how that worked out as we all know Serena has been working extra hard this year and would have enjoyed the opportunity of beating Sharapova fair and square. It is an unfortunate series of events, but in the end, could really put Serena on another level.
We, here at heART of Cool (HoC), wish the best to them both!
